Deborah Soules, owner of NY Pilates, has been teaching Pilates since December 1996. She was trained by Romana Kryzanowska, a protégé of Joseph Pilates, at the Pilates Studio of New York and has been in private practice full time for 13 years.
Deborah was a professional ballet dancer and actress for 28 years with numerous dance, film and theater credits. Professional dancers, like professional athletes, must have a solid set of core muscles to be successful and avoid injury. Pilates was designed to strengthen the body’s core muscles, providing an excellent foundation for lifts, vertical jumping, lateral speed and endurance. Deborah focuses on working the entire set of core muscles and training them to their highest possible level of fitness. She has taught basketball players, competitive cyclists, runners and numerous performers. Deborah creates a unique workout program specifically designed for each client that provides the best possible results for both the core and other muscles of the body. Deborah has also taught yoga, creative movement and various stretching programs for both teens and adults. She takes a very holistic approach to Pilates and utilizes the original Pilates reformer, the Wunda Chair and mat routines specifically designed to maximize the training benefit for each client, based on their individual needs.
